Women Building Community: Programs and Initiatives changing our region
The second of a two-part exploration of women at the helm of significant and empowering change in our community, these four women are focused on improving, enriching and enhancing the quality of life in Colorado Springs. Cindy Aubrey, Lynette Crow-Iverson, Stephannie Finley-Fortune, and Donna Nelson are leading efforts to make Colorado Springs a robust, diverse, and progressive community, welcoming the kind of opportunities and workforce that will propel it in front of other communities of its size.
Each woman will speak to the projected change their initiatives will make, and, as with the March Panel Discussion, will give the audience guidance and encouragement to step out and take risks to make change happen.
Featuring:

Projects: Colorado Springs Promise, City for Champions
Cindy is the President and CEO of Pikes Peak United Way. A fourth generation Colorado native, she has enjoyed three interesting careers since graduating from Colorado State University. Cindy worked twenty years in media, both in television news and marketing, followed by a stint as Chief Communications Officer for the city's first strong mayor. Between jobs, she started a consulting company called Pure Mark Public Relations and Marketing, to which she will one day return full-time. The bucket list is long, but at the top is a trip to Prague (her grandparents were Czech immigrants). Cindy loves cheering on her CSU Rams!

Projects: Ballot Issue 2C, Ballot Issue 2A, LART, TOPS
Lynette is a respected authority, routinely called upon by members in her industry and beyond. In addition to launching one of the state’s most innovative businesses in the past decade, Lynette also serves on several boards and commissions dedicated to improving, enriching and enhancing the quality of life in Colorado Springs. Recognized as an expert in business ethics and corporate compliance, Lynette was mayor-appointed as a trustee for the Colorado Springs Health Foundation. She sits on the Regional Connect Committee for the Chancellor of UCCS and is also the Past Chairman of the Pikes Peak Workforce Development Board, and the Current Chair for Colorado Springs Forward.

Stephannie has enjoyed an exhilarating career in public policy, government, politics, community development and business. She traveled the world, serving President George H.W. Bush as part of his advance team, was chief of staff for the 3rd Congressional District of Colorado and served as chief of staff to Lt. Governor Jane Norton. She helped establish and direct Colorado’s first Office of Suicide Prevention. She is currently the lead on reimagining the North Nevada Corridor. In 2018 she founded her own company to help people find a life of intentional purpose and joy, specializing in times of transition.

Projects: Spirit of the Springs Colorado Springs Sister Cities International, Young Champion Ambassador, Ticket to Success, Mayors Cup, Mayors Young Leader Awards
Donna is a dedicated, honest professional who serves her community in many ways. She started her professional career as a Medical NCO in the United States Army, serving nine years around the world to include a six-month tour in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm/Shield. Donna continues her service in Colorado Springs by serving on numerous Boards, often in a leadership capacity to help shape the future of our community. After transitioning from the military, she was a leader at a local credit union, then was appointed as the city’s first Economic Vitality Specialist. She continues in that role, with a title change, overseeing special programs for the Mayor.
