Program Topic: Building a Great Work Culture: More Important Now Than Ever.
There is often a correlation between the fact that many people are not going back to work and poor workplace culture. Kent Fortune has long been considered the local area expert in what businesses can do to attract and retain talent, and the work environment is the first place to start.
What you will take away from this presentation:
Leadership matters and it starts with you!
Keep it simple! Don’t make it hard.
Attitude is half the battle.
Retired as the Regional Vice President of USAA’s Colorado Springs Campus on December 31, 2021 after a 32+ year career. My last position provided leadership to approximately 1,800 employees across Colorado Springs as well as 750 Insurance Service Professionals across other USAA locations. Since 2011, served as the senior officer responsible for site management, community affairs, employee safety, business continuation, philanthropic support, and military/government relations. One of my focuses was on the overall culture of the campus. To this end, USAA in Colorado Springs was named a Top Workplace in Colorado in the large employer category by the Denver Post and Energage for a number of years and the #1 Workplace in the state in 2015 and 2017.
Kent is still active in the community and state. He is the Vice-Chair of the Colorado Springs Military Affairs Council and will be the Chair in 2022. He is a board member on the University of Colorado (UC) Foundation and on the Board of the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC. Was the Chairman of the Board for the Pikes Peak United Way (2014-2017) and participated in the Colorado Chamber of Commerce Execs Advocacy Program (2019). He was a mentor for UCCS Boots to Suits program, and facilitated for the UCCS “Leader U” program—a leadership class for UCCS athletes. Kent was named the Colorado Springs Chamber Business Citizen of the Year in 2017, and Colorado Springs Business Journal’s “Healthiest Executive” in 2016.
Kent is married to Stephannie and together they enjoy traveling and giving back to the community any way that they can.
